The security of the app is the same of the corresponding version of the apk mirror (The older the version, the higher the risk). In general, instagram server prompts you with a "this version is no longer supported" if there are several security issues with the version. Use it at your own risk.

The repository, like this website, is just a placeholder for the mission and wants to sensibilize people about socialdetox. There are many similar projects like HealthyIG, like Instander, DFinstagram, InstaDM etc.

Go to settings/Applications, search for Meta App Manager and Meta App Installer, force stop and disable them. Then reinstall the patched instagram or clear cache and force restart. If you can't install the app, make sure that Meta App Installer is disabled and you have downloaded the right version for your android architecture.
